Toronto Face LiftA facelift will create smoother, more pleasing contours to your face and neck.

The traditional facelift specifically addresses the "jowls" and "turkey gobbler" in the neck. It also improves the deep lines around where the cheek meets the mouth.

The best way to determine if you are a candidate for facelift is to consult Dr. Rival. We encourage you to click here to receive a printable certificate for your free facelift consultation.

Dr. Rival will assess the thickness, texture and elasticity of your skin, and the severity of wrinkles and folds. Your hairline will be examined to determine where incisions can be placed. The structure of your face will be considered to tailor surgery to you individually.

How is the surgery done?

An incision is hidden in the contour of your ear, then extends around the earlobe and back into the hairline. Following surgery, incisions can be easily concealed by your hair or with makeup. There may also be a small incision hidden underneath your chin.

After the skin has been elevated the deeper tissues may be repositioned and tightened. Excess skin and fat are then removed to create a natural, youthful facial contour. A small incision beneath the chin may be used to aid the removal of fatty tissue in that area and smoothing of the cord-like structures of the underlying muscle in the neck.

What to expect after surgery

After the surgery patients wear a light head dressing , with suction drains placed under the skin. All drains and dressings are removed the day after surgery. Most patients will experience some bruising and swelling. This will gradually resolve over 2-3 weeks. Return to normal activities may occur at this time but strenuous activities should be delayed for 4-6 weeks.

The details and risks of this procedure will be covered fully by Dr Rival at the time of your consultation.
