Eye Lift Case #3
Cosmetic Facial Surgeon: Dr. Richard Rival
Procedures Performed: Eye lift
“Baggy” lower eyelids can result from any of 3 different factors, each of which requires a different approach using nonsurgical options or “eye lift” cosmetic surgery in Toronto. Sometimes, loose skin is to blame; in other cases, the patient has an overdeveloped lower-eyelid muscle, and sometimes large pockets of fat between the muscle and the skin make the eyelid appear puffy or saggy.
For this young woman, fatty deposits under the skin were to blame, giving her an unnecessarily tired and wrinkled look. She came into our offices wanting to explore her options to regain a smoother, more awake look. In her consultation, Dr. Rival examined the woman’s facial tissues and, after explaining a few different options, helped her decide on an effective solution.
Eyelid “bagginess” that results from skin thinning out and exposing the shape of the lower-lid muscle can often be corrected through noninvasive dermal fillers, which restore tissue volume and smooth the area. For some patients with sagging eyelid skin, transcutaneous blepharoplasty can remove the excess for a smoother look.
For this patient, though, a transconjunctival blepharoplasty was appropriate. In this procedure, the doctor makes a small incision at the inside of the lid to remove the extra fatty pockets.
Sometime after her Toronto cosmetic surgery procedure, the patient is very pleased to see that her eyelids look smoother, emphasizing her eyes and giving her a more alert, happy appearance. Unlike injectable options, her procedure is permanent, and because the incision was inside the lid, there is no chance of visible scarringLower blepharoplasty done without skin incision (transconjunctival) to reduce lower eyelid bags.
