What can injectable fillers do?

Specializing in enhancement of the face and neck, Dr. Rival knows how to achieve beautiful, natural results. He uses injectable fillers to provide a variety of improvements, including:

  • Smoothing away wrinkles, folds, and creases
  • Sculpting and defining lips
  • Enhancing mid-face volume on the temples, under the eyes, and on the cheeks
  • Correcting superficial scars like those caused by acne and chicken pox

People with advanced signs of aging might also want to consider a facelift or other facial cosmetic surgery procedure to attain their desired improvements.

How do fillers work?

Injectable fillers replace lost volume under the skin to fill out wrinkles and add or restore volume. In contrast, Dr. Rival uses BOTOX COSMETIC® in Toronto to correct wrinkles gradually by temporarily stopping the contractions of specific facial muscles.

How are treatments performed?

Dr. Rival personally performs all filler treatments. He makes these quick injections by inserting a short, fine needle under the area that needs filling out. Discomfort is minimal, but anesthetic is available if desired. After these simple office treatments, you can return to your normal activities with no downtime.

How much do fillers cost?

Dermal fillers cost $500-$600 (+HST) per syringe, and the number of syringes required is dependent on numerous factors. You will be given a more accurate quote after an in-person consultation. Typically, if you purchase multiple syringes there will be a volume discount.

Which filler is right for me?

There are a variety of fillers available, made from different substances, such as collagen, hyaluronic acid (HA), and poly-L-lactic acid. Restylane and JUVÉDERM are both HA fillers, which adds volume to the area where it’s injected. RADIESSE is a calcium hydroxyl-based filler used to treat deeper lines and the loss of volume. Each filler is suited to a different concern, based on its composition, such as deep or shallow wrinkles, lips, or volume replacement. Dr. Rival will ask you to describe the improvements you’d like to see, review your health history, assess the condition of your skin, and then explain which fillers will best meet your needs. He might suggest other medical spa treatments as well.

When do fillers start to work?

The beauty of injectable fillers is that you will see improvement as soon as your treatment is complete. Some fillers encourage collagen production in the skin and continue to produce improvements for several weeks.

How long will my results last?

The great look you get from fillers can be maintained with regular treatments. The duration of the filler depends on its composition, your skin, and the area in which it was used. For example, a highly popular treatment, Restylane, results in improvements that last between about 6 and 18 months. Other fillers can last a year or longer.
